SBIHM is under the Govt. of West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961 from the year 1999. SBIHM is under UGC (Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) recognized by Punjab Technical University, (PTU) which is also the member of Association of Indian University, New Delhi. All courses offered are as per the nomenclature and guidelines of University Grants Commission. SBIHM also enjoys status of DELC No. 695.
